DevOps / Platform Engineer (m/f/d) – Cloud & Infrastructure

As a DevOps / Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for the technical aspects of our platform infrastructure.

You will work closely with development and product owners, actively contribute to architectural decisions, and help shape the long-term development of our infrastructure.

We currently operate our platform on an in-house infrastructure using Kubernetes. Looking ahead, however, we are also evaluating cloud and hyperscaler architectures to further scale our platform and implement potential multi-tenant SaaS models, always with a focus on European providers and data protection-compliant architecture.

You'll help us evaluate and implement these architectural decisions from a technical perspective.

Our current infrastructure

  • Self-hosted infrastructure with Kubernetes
  • GitOps with FluxCD & GitLab
  • Helmet Charts
  • Monitoring & logging with Prometheus, Loki, and Grafana
  • Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB/FerretDB
  • Message broker: RabbitMQ
  • Legacy: Drupal/PHP (Academy) on bare metal, managed with Ansible and Terraform/OpenTofu
  • New products (Nest.js / Vue.js) containerized

Your responsibilities

  • Operation, further development, and stabilization of our platform infrastructure
  • Maintenance and further development of our container-based workloads (currently Kubernetes)
  • Evaluation and optimization of our infrastructure, IaC, and deployment strategies
  • Architectural decisions regarding cloud, platform, and scaling
  • Evaluation and potential integration of European cloud and hyperscaler infrastructures, taking into account product requirements and operating costs
  • Support for the potential transition from single-tenant to multi-tenant SaaS architectures
  • Responsibility for deployment, CI/CD, and GitOps processes
  • Monitoring, logging, and reliability engineering
  • Close cooperation with Development & Product Management
  • Support for the modernization of legacy systems
  • Perspective: Enabling developers and building further DevOps expertise within the team

What you bring to the table:

  • Several years of experience in DevOps, platform, or cloud environments
  • Very good knowledge of Linux, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation
  • Experience with containerized platforms (e.g., Kubernetes or similar technologies)
  • Experience with cloud infrastructures or hyperscalers
  • Interest in platform architecture, scalability, and SaaS business models
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code and GitOps concepts
  • Understanding of highly available, scalable systems
  • Experience with monitoring stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, Loki)
  • Experience with configuration management (e.g., Ansible)
  • Ideally, experience with European cloud providers (e.g., Scaleway, OVHcloud, Hetzner Cloud)
  • Familiarity with PHP- and Drupal-based applications is a plus
  • Very good knowledge of German (at least B2)
