The Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ) of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences is Bavaria's leading scientific computing centre. Founded in Munich in 1962, the LRZ has grown to become one of Europe's largest computing centres for science, research and education.

The opening of the Quantum Integration Center marks another milestone in the institute's history. "With the Quantum Integration Center (QIC), the LRZ is pursuing ambitious goals and making an important contribution to supporting Munich Quantum Valley" (source: lrz.de).

The uniqueness of this event and the high-profile guests demanded a perfectly organized process. Reliability, fast production times, and secure technical solutions were therefore extremely important for the organizer. In the run-up to the opening event, a video teaser was produced to be played during the livestream. The video was based on statements from LRZ protagonists and impressions (B-roll material such as computing hardware and building footage). A separate day of filming took place in Garching for this purpose. The Techcast team had already checked all the conditions for the event and worked out a set-up as a concept.

After the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon, the livestream began with panel discussions. Several experts joined the discussions with guests present on site via video link. Pre-produced clips added even more variety to the program. The live broadcast could be viewed on two channels: directly on the LRZ website and on YouTube. In post-production, the recording of the event was edited into an on-demand video (with LRZ branding).

Thanks to livestreaming, anyone interested could watch the QIC launch live and follow the grand opening. Techcast guaranteed the organizer a successful technical implementation: LRZ employees were able to concentrate on the content of the event and rely on the Techcast team for the entire video production, livestreaming, and technology.
